If you are getting married in Iowa, chances are you have been looking at barn venues to host your family and friends. I love the rustic simplicity of barn venues in Iowa, and White Country Estates in Lockridge, IA is such a delight! It is vital when holding your wedding in a barn venue to hire an Iowa wedding photographer who knows what they are doing. As gorgeous as they are, they are notoriously difficult for photographers to handle. The low lighting and high ceilings (lacking a surface to bounce our flash off) make it very difficult to get great quality images. However, you stumbled on my site and luckily I am highly trained in off camera lighting. I love the challenge and am completely prepared to handle tough lighting situations so your images look as amazing as your wedding does in real life. I have fallen so far behind in my wedding blogging after this busy summer of photographing families, newborns and high school seniors. I’m throwing it way back today with one of my all-time favorite weddings. Sierra and James’ love was so palpable on their wedding day, nothing could bring them back down to Earth. The drizzly weather just added to the romance and when they decided last minute to just go ahead with the outdoor ceremony at Sierra’s childhood home, the drizzle slowly picked up into full on RAIN. They just shrugged and excitedly gone on with things. The day continued with the weather clearing up for their joy filled reception at White Country Estates, even giving us a gorgeous glowy sunset for some romantic portraits in the evening. I loved the challenge of the many different light scenarios: fluorescent lighting in the bridal suite, dark farmhouse interiors, balancing my umbrella over my camera for the ceremony, and lighting their gorgeous reception space.
